The GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) is the owner and administrator of the GMAT exam, the first and only standardized test specifically designed for graduate business and management programs. B-schools use your scores to compare you with other applicants. Students compete in their own country pool. High GMAT scores can truly help you stand out in the application process.
The GMAT exam is a computer adaptive test. It has 4 sections – Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Analytical Writing Analysis (AWA). You may use the Select Section Order facility to choose from any of the following three section orders:

Most Indian top B-Schools such as ISB, IIMs, XLRI, SP Jain and many others accept GMAT scores.
You can take the GMAT once every 16 days and no more than 5 times in a calendar year. You are allowed not more than 8 attempts in your lifetime.
GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.
You will be able to see your Quant, Verbal and IR section scores immediately after the completion of the exam. However, the official score report along with the AWA score will be available after 20 days.

The GMAT test registration fee is USD 275. After the test, you are asked to submit the names of 5 B-Schools where you would like to send your scores. This facility is free.
Although many universities had waived off the GMAT due to logistical challenges during the pandemic, GMAT scores are still considered vital for the MS admission process. A student with a GMAT score will always be preferred.
If the test date is cancelled 60 days before the actual test, you will get USD 100 refund of the registration fee. If you cancel the test 14 days prior to the test date, you will get USD 50 refund. Beyond that, no more refund will be possible.
If you secure 70 percentile, it means that 70% of the students who have taken the exam in the past 3 years are below you and 30% are equal to or above you.
